Charlotte, NC – This Friday, race fans from around the country will visit Charlotte Motor Speedway for the unique opportunity to drive their personal vehicles on the high banks of the legendary 1.5-mile superspeedway for the 20th annual Souvenir and Race Ticket Blow-Out, the biggest day-after-Thanksgiving shopping event in racing.

Shoppers who spend at least $50 on merchandise or race tickets, or donate $25 to Speedway Children’s Charities during the event, will be allowed to drive their personal vehicle for three laps around the track.

Last year, Douglas Myer, of Mt. Marion, N.Y., made the 12-hour trip so he could drive his 2011 Ford Fusion on the track.

“I absolutely loved it,” said Myer. “The track was a lot narrower than I thought. It looks wider in the stands. Driving on the track and seeing it from their perspective gives me more respect for the drivers.”

For every $10 shoppers spend at the ticket office, gift shop, or souvenir haulers, they will receive a sticker to be placed on a ride card. Once five stickers have been affixed, the card can be redeemed for a ride voucher that can be picked-up in the gift shop or the ticket office. Vouchers must be redeemed at Gate 4.

Once obtaining the ride voucher, fans will proceed to Gate 1 and enter the track through the Turn 4 tunnel. Cars will be guided onto pit road and assembled into groups. Once assembled, they will make their way down pit road and onto the track for three laps behind one of the track’s Toyota pace cars. Rides will take place during event hours, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Black Friday sale provides fans the chance to shop at more than a dozen NASCAR souvenir rigs featuring merchandise from top NASCAR drivers including Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Danica Patrick, Tony Stewart and more.

Charlotte Motor Speedway merchandise will be offered at incredibly low prices with some items starting at just $1. A large variety of hats and t-shirts will be priced starting at just $3. The speedway gift shop will have a 20-percent discount on all clothing items, including popular Made in the U.S.A. apparel.

While many fans come from out of the state for the chance to drive on the superspeedway, there are several local fans that make it a yearly tradition. For the sixth-consecutive year, David Stone, of Charlotte, N.C., is planning to come out for the 20th annual event.

“It really was a lot of fun to actually be out on the track,” said Stone. “And I really like the deals that they offer. Last year I got my tickets for the All-Star Race there.”

In addition to the souvenir trailers, the Charlotte Motor Speedway ticket office will be open throughout the event, offering shoppers the perfect gift for that race fan on their holiday shopping list. Shoppers who spend $100 or more on tickets, camping or pit passes for 2013 NASCAR or NHRA events at the speedway will receive a $25 credit toward a future purchase, or a $50 credit for purchases of $175 or more. If fans purchase two frontstretch tickets to the Coca-Cola 600 or two John Force Grandstand seats to the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals they will receive a free diecast car.

For more information on the Souvenir and Race Ticket Blow-Out, contact the Charlotte Motor Speedway gift shop at (704) 455-3202 or online at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com. No motorcycles will be allowed on the track.

After the Souvenir and Race Ticket Blow-Out, shoppers are invited to stay and enjoy Speedway Christmas, the region’s largest holiday light show. Starting at zMAX Dragway and weaving through the infield of the 1.5-mile superspeedway, families can experience more than 800 displays made up of more than 3 million holiday lights. There will also be a viewing of the holiday movie classic “Polar Express” on the world’s largest HDTV at 7 p.m. The cost of admission is just $20 a car load for up to eight passengers.

Shoppers can also bring their family out to have some holiday fun at the Coca-Cola Family Ice Rink presented by New Life 91.9 FM, located in the pavilion at zMAX Dragway. The cost to skate is just $12 per person and includes skate rental. Friday hours are from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
