CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston women’s basketball team continues their road swing as they travel to East Carolina for a matchup with the Pirates Saturday Nov. 17 at 2:00 p.m.
OPENING THOUGHTS

On opening the season with a win against Coastal Carolina
“We played with great intensity. We forced 34 turnovers and we played at the pace that I’ve been talking about since day one. We shared the ball and for me it was a great team win.”

“For me, Tish has an upside that I don’t even think she realizes how good she could be and how much talent she has. She has been a joy to coach and I see her getting better. I’m very excited about where she is and I want her to want to be SoCon Player of the Year. I want the sky to be the limit for her and she has the capability to do that.”
On Saturday’s game at East Carolina
“East Carolina is a good team. They started off strong with a 2-0 record. We know they are going to want revenge, because we opened with them last year and played very well. They return most of the same players and Coach Heather Macy is a good coach. I know they are going to play hard. The one thing she really takes pride in is defense. They are going to play hard and want to get up and down the floor. I expect a high energy game, because that is the way we play. If we take care of what we need to do on both sides of the ball I think we will do well.”

LAST TIME VS. ECU
The Cougars opened the 2011-12 season with a 58-43 win against ECU (11/11/11) at TD Arena. Then freshman Mikaela Hopkins and Christy Hewatt combined for 28 points and 23 rebounds to lead the Cougars. Senior Cathryn Hardy added 13 points and six rebounds. The Cougars held ECU to 25.4 percent shooting for the game and forced the pirates into 24 turnovers.
ROAD WARRIORS
The Cougars will be on the road for much of November and December as they play eight of their first 11 games away from TD Arena.
BROWN CLOSING IN ON TOP-10
Junior point guard Jill Brown is 20 assists shy of cracking the top-10 for career assists in CofC women’s basketball history. Brown led the Cougars in assists in 26/30 games last season and had two double-digit assist games.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
Senior Latisha Harris opened the season with a double-double (17 points and 14 rebounds) in the Cougars home opening win over Coastal Carolina. Harris registered eight double-doubles during the 2011-12 season.
SCORING BALANCE
In each of the Cougars first two games of the season three players have scored in double figures. Senior Latisha Harris and juniors Alyssa Frye and Afreyea Tolbert have each been in double figured in the two games this season.
NEXT HOME GAME
The Cougars will return home to TD Arena Nov. 28 when they host Winthrop at 7:00 p.m.
