MIDWEST ROCK ‘N’ ROLL EXPRESS TOUR CONCLUDES
Nugent to Embark on 40-City “Great White Buffalo Tour”
Nashville, Tenn. – On Sunday, July 8, at Bangor Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor, Maine, Styx, REO Speedwagon and Ted Nugent concluded their 30-city Midwest Rock ‘N’ Roll Express Tour with a bang. In a first since their union in supergroup Damn Yankees, Nugent and Styx’s Tommy Shaw reunited to perform “Coming of Age” during Styx’s set.
Styx’s James Young had a hunch stage collaborations may take place on the tour, sharing with Billboard earlier this year, “I think something will certainly happen, but I dare not predict what it might be. I look forward to being pleasantly surprised and delighted by it all.”
Nugent adds, “My music and band are so much fun every night it’s indescribable. But when you can be joined by incredible musicians like Dave Amato [REO Speedwagon and a former member of Nugent’s band] and Tommy Shaw for a spontaneous jam on these classic songs, it is literally out of body. These guys have the fire.”
Rolling Stone recognized the tour as one of the “Ten Hottest Summer Package Tours of 2012” noting, “We’re most looking forward to ‘Cat Scratch Fever’ and ‘Stranglehold.’”
Ultimate Classic Rock said, “With the crowd loving every minute of ‘Wango Tango,’ ‘Free-For-All’ and ‘Cat Scratch Fever,’ the Motor City Madman showed that he’s still got plenty of fuel in his tank.”
Commencing on July 10 in Boston, Mass., Nugent will embark on his own headlining tour, Great White Buffalo Tour, which ends in Dallas, Texas on August 25, marking a 70+ concert run for 2012.
